Our Departments

  • The Department of Public Relations' main duty is to seamlessly communicate information about the UPUA to the student body. Under this department, there is an Executive Director of Public Relations, a Director of Design, a Director of External Outreach, a Director of Identity Group Outreach, and a Director of Data Analytics which all work together to communicate the UPUA's message. The department creates content for the social media, issues statements on various topics on behalf of the UPUA, gauges student perception, and creates events for students to engage with the UPUA.

  • The role of the Department of Internal Inclusion and Support (IIS) is to aid the organization in providing more support to marginalized members of the organization, leading affinity groups, and taking a deeper and more informed look at our policies and procedures within the lens of equity. Furthermore, the Department of IIS will oversee the annual UPUA Shadowing and Informational Program (ShIP) to provide more accessible methods of entry into the organization and educate the community about our partnerships in the spring semester. This Department will be overseen by the Executive Director of Internal Inclusion and Support and be comprised of two offices that includes the Office on Member Wellness and the Office on Diversity and Belonging.

  • The Department of Finance serves three main purposes for the student body. First, the department serves to transparently keep track of the UPUA budget, especially the transactions funded by student fees. Second, the department facilitates financial transactions for the UPUA. Finally, the department aims to increase student involvement with the UPUA’s finances to ensure that all students can have a voice in the way their student government spends its funds.

  • Created in 2020, the Department of Environmental Sustainability institutionalizes sustainability into the University Park Undergraduate Association. It does so by utilizing the framework proposed by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals to strategize and act in a way that furthers the UPUA’s and the University’s sustainability efforts. By collaborating with student representatives and others in the sustainability realm at Penn State to research and complete projects, the Department grants meaningful experiences to students knowledgeable and passionate about specific areas of sustainability. The Department is led by the Executive Director of Environmental Sustainability and the Deputy Director. Directors within the Department focus on specific topics based on their expertise and interests.

  • The First-Year Council is the gateway program into the UPUA. The first semester is focused on introducing you to the organization and getting you acquainted with what representatives do in the organization. You'll get the opportunity to shadow representatives while also working on your own initiatives. The second semester is focused on developing and refining your leadership skills while continuing to better student life.
