First Year Student Resources

Moving to college can be a daunting experience. Those first few days can whisk by, or drag on forever. We hope that the resources below can help make your transition to Penn State easy, and that you’ll be able to call Happy Valley your home in no time.

How to Get Involved

The best way to feel comfortable on campus is to find a club or group of people that share your interests. Luckily, University Park is home to over 1000 clubs. So whether you spend your free time debating politics, reading fanfiction, shooting hoops, or solving equations, there is a group for you. You can explore all available clubs here.

With so many options to choose from, how can you find the best fit? The Involvement Fair brings most of Penn State’s clubs all to one place, ready to meet you. At the fair you can find out about events, involvement, requirements, and even sign up for your favorites!

The Spring Involvement Fair will take place on January 7 & 8 from 11 AM to 4 PM in Alumni Hall.

Penn State’s Involvement Fair takes place one time each semester. The fall fair is held on the HUB Lawn, the winter in Alumni Hall.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Everyone gets bogged down by the stresses of college life. CAPS provides basic services free of charge to Penn State students to make sure that your mental health needs are always met. Treatment styles include group and personal therapy. Additionally, online and over the phone consultations are available 24/7

CAPS is located in the student health center,
