UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – April 19, 2017 – The Assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) will hold its weekly meeting Wednesday, April 19 at 8 p.m. in 302 HUB.
The meeting will begin with a special presentation from the Penn State Student Newspaper Readership Program.
New business for the evening will consist of an executive director confirmation, three internal liaison elections, and two pieces of legislation.
First up under New Business, the Assembly will vote to confirm the new Director of Communications. Liaison elections will be for three positions:
- Pennsylvania Association of State-Related Students (PASS) Liaison
- Association of Big Ten Students (ABTS) Liaison
- Movin’ On Liaison
The sole bill for the night is Bill 02-12, which sponsors funding to continue the Coffee for Finals program. This bill would purchase coffee for distribution in the HUB each late night evening during spring finals week (04/30/17 through 05/04/17).
The sole resolution for the night is Resolution 02-12, which calls for the installation of Sharps Containers by the Office of Physical Plant (OPP) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). This resolution seeks to voice the concerns of those who feel there is a lack of proper disposal methods for students using hypodermic needles. This resolution recommends that containers are installed in at least one set of first floor bathrooms in the following locations: Pattee & Paterno Library, Willard Building, IST Bridge, HUB-Robeson Center, Thomas Building, and Business Building.
