UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – Jan. 30, 2017 – The assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) will hold its weekly meeting Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. in 302 HUB.
The meeting will begin with a special presentation from Carlos Wiley, Director of the Paul Robeson Cultural Center. The Center provides programs and services that encourage the appreciation of the diverse perspectives, experiences, and cultures of many under-represented communities at Penn State.
In addition, confirmation hearings will be held for At-Large Representatives; whereby, President Ford will conduct the swearing in of the representatives.
Slated legislation to be addressed include Resolution #33-11: “Call for Increased Staffing in Penn State’s Office of Emergency Management.” The increase in staff would be in order to proactively increase the preparedness against any emergency the university may face. Next, Resolution #34-11: “Call for Revision of State College Residential Street Light Policy” will be brought to the floor. The resolution would request the State College Borough Council allow mid-block street lights to be installed in alleys in the area. Finally, Resolution #35-11: “Recognition of House Resolution 40: Designation of January as Financial Aid Awareness Month” will be addressed. The resolution recognizes the Pennsylvania General Assembly for the adoption of House Bill 40 and for showing support for the importance of financial awareness in university students.
The meeting is open to the public. Students are strongly invited to attend and participate in Open Student Forum.
The University Park Undergraduate Association works to provide students representation at the highest levels of administration and build programs to the benefit of undergraduates at University Park
